FAQ

Got questions about Ladyfest Ten? We’ve tried to answer the most common questions here, but if there’s anything you’re still not sure about please just email us and we’ll reply to you as soon as we can.

Q: What is Ladyfest? How did it start?
A: Ladyfest is an independent, non-profit and community-based global festival celebrating women’s creativity and counter-culture. The first ever Ladyfest took place in Olympia in 2000, with performances from Bratmobile, Sleater-Kinney and The Gossip. Since then, hundreds of Ladyfests have taken place all over the world. For more info, have a read of our about page.

Q: Who is Ladyfest Ten organised by? How can I get involved?
A: Ladyfest Ten is organised by a collective of volunteers. You can find out which organisations and collectives have helped to co-ordinate Ladyfest Ten on our partners page. We’d love you to get involved in the festival, and there’s several ways you can do that, such as volunteering, help us with sourcing the items on our wishlist, or donating.

Q: Where is Ladyfest Ten and how can I get there?
A: Ladyfest Ten takes place from Friday 12th – Sunday 14th November across various North London venues. For all the info about the venues, including maps, disabled access and how to get there by public transport, have a look at our programme page.

Q: How much does it cost and where can I buy a ticket?
A: Check out the tickets page for all the information on the different types of tickets to Ladyfest Ten and where you can buy yours.

Q: What’s on at Ladyfest Ten?
A:
We’ve got music, arts, literature, comedy, cabaret, craft, dance and much, much more! Have a look at our programme page for the full line-up.

Q: Where does the money you make from the festival go?
A: Once we have covered our festival costs, all profits will be donated to the brilliant women’s charity, Eaves. Representatives from the charity will be at the festival, or you can visit their website should you want to find out more.

Q: Is it women only? Can I come if I’m male/trans/straight?
A:
Of course you can! Although the aim of Ladyfest Ten is to promote and celebrate women’s creativity and counter-culture, we are completely inclusive, and everyone is welcome to attend, whatever or whoever you are.

Q: Can children attend the festival?
A: Yes! Anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult at all times, and unfortunately the music at The Garage will be 16 + only. However, the Rest of the Fest is open to under 16′s so long as they are chaperoned. Please note, we do not operate a Ladyfest creche service, and some festival content and events may be unsuitable for children. The Horatia (as an alcohol vending venue) will permit entrance to children at their discretion.

Q: What will my ticket money be used for?
A: Ladyfest is non-profit, so once we’ve covered the costs of the festival, all proceeds will be donated to charity.

Q: I’m a member of the media, and want press releases, photos or press passes. Who should I contact?
A:
Lovely! You can email press@ladyfestten.com and we’ll help you with whatever you need, but it’s urgent please check out our media centre first as you might find what you’re after there.
